Born and raised in Chicago,
Chris grew up in a house where music was a
staple along side red wine and pasta. The
youngest of four, there were many different
sounds coming out of each room in his home:
disco & soul, classic rock, mainstream and
Motown to be exact. "Music was always playing.
Morning, noon, dinner, and night, some radio
station or stereo was always emanating music."
His brother Phil had one of the radios set to
102.7FM (WBMX) at all times. Since the age of
10 Chris' ear was attuned to the sounds of
Farley Keith, Ralphi Rosario, Scott Sills,
Mickey Oliver, and Kenny Jason. (AKA the hot mix
5). |

A hot mix 5 junkie by the age of 12,
Chris would take his grandmother's home stereo component and
rewire it to his parent's turntable based system and record
mix tapes when his family was out of the house. House music
was the sound and Chris loved it from the beginning. In
1985 a local community center held a dance but couldn't
afford to pay a big name DJ. With 2 hours notice, and a lot
of pleading to his parents, Chris had his first gig at the
age of 15. "I became addicted. The power of watching
everyone dance to something you put on the turntables was
overwhelming." Chris continued to do small parties and gigs
with friends from high school until approximately 1990. "My
parents gave me an ultimatum and unfortunately it didn't
involve music. I had to concentrate on school and getting
my grades together, so I reluctantly stopped playing for a
while around 90'." |

Continuing to watch dance music closely for several years,
Chris finally jumped back into mixing in 1996. Scraping up
enough money to buy used equipment he started making demo
tapes and doing small gigs and afterhours parties. This is
where he found his niche' again. "The afterhours scene in
Chicago was a very popular but quite secret none the less.
This underground scene is where I really had the chance to
show out." Chris built his following there and in 1999 he
was graced with the honor of playing Crobar for the first
time. A residency at Funky Buddha Lounge soon followed. |

has guested at Chicago hotspots such as Transit, Drink,
LePassage, Rouge, Circuit Night Club, and was honored by the
Heart's Foundation to play their Fireball party's afterhours
2 years in a row. Currently editing the music page at Boi
Magazine (along side Freddie Bain) and myboystown.com, Chris
recently ventured into the world of remixing by
experimenting on a collaboration with Orlando G. |
