10.25.02 - Music Reviews by our music editor, Chris Eterno.  Guest reviews by Keith Ware, Greg Drescher, Timmy Loop and Jim Lewis.

E-N feat. Ceevox - Don't Leave me this Way

(Star 69)  www.star69records.com

This is not a cover. The E-N Metroliner mix is a trippy journey with an underlining train sound coursing through it. There are sparse vocals and a
constant techy buzzer sound that keeps the track rolling along. You may remember the drum track from Jaydee - Plastic Dreams. My fave mix has to be the Friburn and Urik Tribal Mix. It is a very tribally and energetic track that will keep you grooving. -Keith Ware

Yoko Ono - Yang Yang

(Star 69)  www.star69records.com

It's nice to see Yoko headed back into the dance music scene. This is an incredibly intelligent yet danceable track. Peter Rauhofer delivers two mixes
with a dub and Orange factory gives us the same. My favorite is the Orange Factory Pump mix; it is tough and progressive. With a Daft punk vibe, the
vocals are roboticized. The lyrics are pure Yoko Ono avant-garde poetry. She maintains artistic integrity in a genre to which many claim she sold out. -Keith Ware

Sometimes when you read a music review, you're told how good the record is and when you get home, listen to it, you think "what was that reviewer talking about?" Now, keeping in mind that everyone has different tastes in music every now and then you come across a record that truly has something for everyone AND THIS IS IT : IBIZA 1.   This double pack import is stuffed with rhythms and vocals for your mind, body, and soul.  Classic remakes, such as Sunscreem's  "Love You More"  to a vocal piece that's sure to be a club anthem called "The Only One"  by Renee Ja Vai are two examples.  The production work and remixes will take this up and coming songstress straight to the top of the line. Other mentionable tracks are "Don't Stop" (Sinesweeper), "In Your Eyes" (Filterheadz), and even a house track titled "I Came Back by The Force." This is a pretty rare import to find but well worth the hunt. -Jim Lewis

Faith Trent (of Flip Flop's "In Stereo" fame) gives us a new release called "Body (Reach Out)" on Tommyboy Silver.  The Widelife mix delivers a dark funky energy to listeners as Faith's high vocals flow evenly and rhythmically.  Hard attack give a coronary performance with a vocal and dub that are more tribal than the Widelife mixes, but still manage to carry Faith smoothly without too much drama.  Sure to pack the dancefloors, I give this single high marks. -Chris Eterno

Matt Zarley's "You Always Want (What You Ain't Got)" on HeadMu Music provides listeners with a solid male vocal dance track.  Solar City and Peter Lorimer provide the slice 'n' dice on this ditty. SC's vocal and dub have a mainstream dance appeal with Matt's soulful singing layered over trancy music.  Peter Lorimer's mixes are housey and soulful with his BPM's varying between the dub and vocal.  This tune definitely carries a mainstream and house appeal for fun listening. -Chris Eterno

Pepper Mashay is back, being featured on Scott Michael's new single "Let's Runaway" on Rhodium Records.  The CD maxi single has something for everyone with mix salad tossed by Tingo, Eddie Baez, Nick Mercy, Julian Marsh, Scott Michael himself and LOS.  Michael and Mashay sing off one another with a variety of sounds from Latin (LOS), mainstream (Baez & Tingo) and circuit (Mercy & Marsh).  As solid freshman effort from Michael, recommend this single for the boys. -Chris Eterno

Chicago's Ralphi Rosario strikes again with a fantastic slice n' dice of Shauna Solomon's new single "You Can Get Over" on Harlequin Records.  This limited edition release proves that remixer Rosario is at the top of his game with Solomon's diva-esque vocals over Ralphi's bangin' music.  Fierce buildups and snappy synthesized lines ring up a big win for this release. The dub is equally as powerful with a slightly deeper edge.  One word -"HOT!" -Chris Eterno

Yoshitoshi Records has come to the forefront of domestic dance music in
recent month, and proof of this is their bangin' new release from Kings of
Tomorrow
entitled "I Want You (For Myself)".  Deep mixes from Holmes Ives and Luke Fair juxtapose the traditional house feel of your standard KOT song. Holmes Ives delivers the hottest slice with dark tribal beats & progressive rhythms topped with Julie McKnights vocals making for a delicious serving. Eat it up and enjoy!

Star69 is hitting us with nothing but bliss as of late.  This is ever so true
of Laszlo Panaflex's new single "Dance To The Music".  Peter Rauhofer's vocal mix is hype but simple and snappy, allowing for Sue Quin's Forceful vocals to shine through.  Peter's tribal dub is dark and dirty (just the way I like it served up).  L.P. gives powerful words for the vocal queens and deep rhythms for the dub lovers. -Chris Eterno

Welcome To The Tribe - Volume 2 - (One Tribe Music Corporation)  The title says it all. For those who are scared away by anything "tribal"…have no fear because this CD will bring you into the fold by teaching a new meaning for the word. Gathered together on this compilation are Harlequin Records latest hits, including tracks produced by Guido, Peter Presta, Mike Mucci and Eday, all adding their own touch to the mix. If you need vocals to satisfy you, listen to the sultry "Deeper" by Chynna, two powerful songs by Shauna Solomon (including a BANGIN' dub of "Whatcha Gonna Do?"), and the distinctive voices of Alan T and Michael M found on three more tracks. And, of course, underneath it all - a strong tribal beat. The mixing is so seamless that you're halfway into the next song before realizing that a track has ended. Usually one to grow bored with hearing anything twice, I've already popped this in four times today. Highly recommended.  -Greg Drescher

Michael M - Let Ya Have It (Guido Vocal & Dub) - Harlequin Records Guido lets ya have it with slammin' mixes of this follow-up track to his other hit production with Michael M ("Shoot Your Shot"). The vocal mix delivers a funky drum beat with spoken words layered on top, repeating (in case you forget) " That it's the DJ that lets ya have it." And Guido certainly does because this tune explodes in its final build. The dub has even more pep, but only the vocal proclaims, "Come on, let me have it! I need a whack!" -Greg Dresher

Kaskade/"Keep On E.P." on Lowdown Music
Step into the deep sound of Kaskade's "Keep On" E.P. The 12" features 3
delicious tracks to munch upon. If you're looking for something smooth and
refreshing then check out the vocal or dub. Both are soulful and deep...just
the way you like it. The vocals are done up by a gal named Josly Nava. Her R &  B voice shines on this cute little disco track. Other mixes include a groovy
cut entitled "Strong". Perfect for you tech-house heads. -Timmy Loop
